Manufacturer: Galaxy Play
We've taken the most popular model from a large swing set
manufacturer that supplies many of the "Big Box" stores and
have compared it to our Design Your Own Swing Sets to
show you the shortcuts and lower quality you would get with
other manufacturers.

At first glance most people will think a swing set is a swing set. There’s a cross beam, some belt swings and perhaps a fort or deck. But take a closer look: is the frame metal or wood, do bolts and other hardware stick out from the set, are the corners smoothly rounded or jagged, are the links in the chain capable of getting little kid fingers stuck in and is the wood used redwood or pine? Many parents don’t consider these questions when purchasing a swing set but they should. When compared side by side with other leading swing set manufacturers you will easily see why Galaxy Play sets are superior in design, safety and durability.
To begin with our swing sets are made using only 100% genuine redwood. The reasons are simple; redwood is naturally resistant to erosion, virtually splinter free and doesn’t need to be treated each year with costly finishes and protective coats of insect repellents. Redwood is one of the sturdiest pieces of lumber available on the commercial market and when compared to lesser wood such as pressure treated pine and even metal there is really no comparison. Pressure treated wood needs constant maintenance to prevent rot and decay and metal is easily eroded over time by weather and UV light.
Another bonus for using redwood is the ability to smooth over all edges and corners. When kids are caught up in the thrill of a game they easily forget that they are playing on a carefully constructed swing set. Their hands will grab at edges and corners and if these areas are not smoothed out you can be looking at scrapes, cuts and burns. Many wood swing sets do not feature rounded edges and leave a very dangerous hazard behind for an unlucky kid to discover. The same is true for metal. Wood can be carefully cut to interlock perfectly without leaving edges and frays while metal is often welded together at specific points but isn’t always smoothed over and metal shavings can easily cause a cut or scrape.
Another area where our swing sets trump the competition is steel swing connectors. There are many areas of a swing set to check for safety but none are as important as the connectors that lock swing sets, monkey bars, slides and other accessories in place to the frame. Cutting corners in this section will surely lead to a lawsuit in the future. Galaxy Play doesn’t play around when it comes to safety and we make sure every connection on every swing set is a sturdy steel connector that provides a full range of motion without locking so kids can play freely and you don’t have to worry about a loose bolt or hinge coming undone.
